01 TOO OLD FOR CRAFT. TOO YOUNG TO DRIVE.

Finally, something that isn’t aimed at five year olds

School holiday activities get a bit weird once your kid gets older.

They are too old for another craft table.
Too young to drive themselves anywhere.
And somehow still capable of saying “there’s nothing to do” while standing inside a house full of things.

First Contact was made for that gap.

They walk into a room full of strange things and get permission to try them.
No sitting through a lesson first.
No need to already be “good at tech”.
Just pick something up and have a go.

02 WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO

What do they actually do?

A lot.

They can:

• 🥽jump into VR
• 🤖build a little glowing robot and take it home
• 🎵make music by touching things
• 🎮play digital games that use real objects, not just screens
• ✨mess around with projections that react to them
• 🧪try strange gadgets and experiments
• 🫧get a bubble mocktail mixed by a machine (not to be confused with bubble tea)

And in some evening sessions, there is a three channel silent disco too.

They will not do every single thing for 90 minutes straight.
They move around, try things, come back to favourites and discover things as they go.

03 NOT A CODING CLASS

“But my kid is not really into tech.”

That is completely fine.

This is not a coding class.
Nobody is sitting at a desk learning computer terms.

Think less “technology lesson”. Think more:

• 💬“What does THIS button do?”
• 💬“Wait, touch that.”
• 💬“Can I try?”
• 💬“Do that again.”

You do not need a child who loves computers.
You need a child who likes doing stuff.

04 TWEENS AND TEENS

Good for the kid who has outgrown most holiday activities

First Contact is especially suited to tweens and teens.

It is also open to younger children, but children under 10 need an adult with them.

VR is for ages 10 and over. Under 16s need a parent or guardian to sign the form.

Children aged 10 and over can attend the 90 minute session without their parent staying.

So yes. You may actually get 90 minutes to yourself.

We are aware this may be the most exciting sentence on the page.

05 NO EXTRAS INSIDE

How much?

Most sessions are $20 per person.

The first session each day is $15 per person.

That includes the whole 90 minute session and everything in it.
No paying extra once they get inside for every little thing they want to try.

Everyone taking part needs a ticket, adults included. If you are staying with a child under 10 but not joining in yourself, you come in free — that is one ticket, not two. Children under 3 are free.

Choose a session

Every session is 90 minutes. Tap a time and you go straight to that session’s booking page. Everyone taking part needs a ticket, adults included — a grown-up who is only supervising comes in free.

07 ON THE DAY

What happens when they arrive?

They come in.
We explain the important stuff.
Then they explore.

There are different things happening around the room, so they can move between activities instead of everyone being forced to do the same thing at the same time.

Staff are around to help when they need it.
They can ask questions.
They can try things again.
They can watch first if they want to.

The whole idea is simple:

See something strange. Try it.

08 FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS

Evening sessions

Some Friday and Saturday evening sessions also include our three channel silent disco.

Three different music channels.
One pair of headphones.
Switch between them whenever you want.

It is particularly funny when half the room is dancing to a completely different song from everyone else.

Loud music one second, a normal chat with friends the next. Nobody has to shout.

The lights go down, the UV lights come on, and anything bright glows.
